Marching On!

For the shortest month of the year, February tends to also be the busiest!  That means I didn't get to finish my February UFO project, but I think I'll keep working on it since I am so close to getting the top finished.

I really could have finished this project this month, but I got one of those darn mental blocks about it!  I didn't want to make those diamond in a square units because they were going to take "too much time".  But then, I started working on them earlier this week and they really didn't take that long at all.  I did have a bit of a time with those square in a square units, got my size wrong for the corners and had to do a batch of them over.  But now all I have to make are some larger square in a square and some setting triangles and I can start assembling the top.

I do need to finish hand stitching around the center compass, though!  I got about 3/4 of the way done and set it aside - so I plan on getting that done after writing this post.

I have also drawn another number for this month's UFO sewing (it's number 5, if you are sewing along with me!)  This is the set of 9 inch blocks from my Road Trip Sewalong in 2023.  My husband has been wanting a new couch quilt, so this is the perfect month to work on this since he will be having a birthday!  He wants a poofy tied comforter, so finishing it shouldn't take long. My only doubt is the colors.  I was planning on using gold for the sashing, but maybe blue would be more to his liking?  I guess I'll have to lay them out and see what looks best to my eye.

Project Quilting

Birthstone Gem Coaster

There were two projects finished for project quilting.  One small and one a medium size quilt.  So I guess that averages out pretty well!

Garnet Star Table Topper

We still have a couple of challenges left, so I'm looking forward to working on those in March!

Stay at Home Round Robin

We've done four rounds for the SAHRR this month.  I started with this:

Added Friendship Stars:

Slashed Blocks:

Quarter Round Log Cabins:

For the final round I plan on making 12 blocks like this:

But first, I'll have to find my ruler!  At least I have a plan!

Shop Samples

I made this new sample for my Fast Lane pattern for the shop.  I have a couple more things lined up to make for March, we are definitely low on new samples!  Trying to keep it easy and fast, which is always nice, right?

Blog Hops

This was a fun project for the Fall Flair Blog Hop!  I'm happy to be able to have some time to volunteer for fun projects like this!  I love being able to support other designers and play with new fabric!

Hometown Nostalgia Row Quilt

I also finished Row 1 of the Hometown Nostalgia Row Quilt, and started row 2.  Love the pink for these blocks.  Seems like nature is turning pink everywhere around us as the cherry trees burst into bloom!  I'll have to get some pictures for you, they are so lovely!

And the teals of Row 1 were lovely as well.

We finished off the month with a lovely trip up the coast.  It may be false spring, but we made sure to enjoy it to the fullest!  More rain is coming, but soon winter will be totally behind us and we will be ready for nice weather and outdoor adventures!

So that's my February wrap up!  A productive and busy month, I hope yours was, too!
