Road Trip Quilt Along Day 37 - Wakula Springs, South Carolina Block

Today's Block is South Carolina.  It's an interesting one, isn't it?  Definitely has a spinning effect!

This was one of my favorite experiences of our trip last year, I hope you enjoy this taste of what we saw!

Our decision to try Wakula Springs again the following morning paid off!  The weather was perfect, and being there for an early cruise gave the opportunity for some wonderful pictures!

This is where the Creature from the Black Lagoon was filmed!  It's a beautiful place and a popular swimming spot.  The spring here is one of the largest and deepest in the world.  The water at the mouth of the spring is always 70 degrees, very refreshing on hot summer days!

As we watched the still water, we were treated to the sight of a small alligator swimming across the swimming area!  Apparently, they stay away when people are actively swimming, at least I hope so!  You can spot it just below the platform!

After a bit of enjoying the quiet morning we boarded our tour boat to go see some alligators and hopefully manatees!

The reflections on the water were so beautiful!

As we moved into the river, the mist gave me some nice dramatic shots, too!

Isn't it just gorgeous?  We saw lots of birds, and several gators were spotted on the shore as well

Note - if you want the best view of the alligators, sit on the right side of the boat (or starboard).  I did enjoy looking out at the water, though!

And we even saw some Manatee before we got finished!

I was excited about that!

Then we took some more pictures, and went back to Jeff and Rose's house and enjoyed watching some football games and eating more good food!  It was so wonderful to spend time with them!

Now that our laundry was done and we'd had a couple of days of rest, we were ready to hit the road again!

Three inch block.

Six inch block.

And my Nine inch block!

Those units on the corners are a little tricky, but they can be done with some patience!  If you want you can replace them with background squares.

Hope you are having a great Monday!  Don't forget, there's and Island Batik blog hop going on, too!  Check out the Island Batik Blog for the schedule!
