Road Trip Quilt Along, Day 8 - Pueblo and Week 2 patterns available!

Here's a peak at the blocks we'll be making this week!  I've decided to sash my 3 inch blocks as I go, so I'll be writing up instructions for you to download if you would like to do this as well.  Those should be ready in a day or two!

Today was our last full day in Pueblo.  We started out with a hearty breakfast at our hotel!  The Best Western in Pueblo has the best breakfast - omelets made to order, with fried potatoes and sausages.  So good!

I couldn't resist taking a picture of what used to be a small grocery store just a block from the elementary school I attended.  I had to walk by here on our way home and I can remember buying candy, and other treats - and on one memorable occasion a friend and I purchased a coconut.  It was disappointing, we couldn't get it open!  So funny!  It was called Chet's Market.

Then we took a drive to Mineral Palace park.  My brother and sister and I spent lots of time here growing up.  It was only about 6 blocks straight down Main street.  Lots of green grace, trees and flowers.  There's a nice playground, and a swimming pool.

There is also a duck pond, and a band shell for concerts.  As you can see, the park is right by the highway as was our house growing up.  This picture is from the bridge over the pond.  We loved riding our bikes over this bridge.

Here is the swimming pool - I'd love to say I learned to swim here, but I think we mostly just bobbed in the water!  I didn't learn to swim until I was a freshman in high school!  It was nice and refreshing on a hot summer day, though and I remember the pool being full of kids every day.

Good memories!  Then we took a drive out to Pueblo Reservoir.  This dam wasn't built until around the time I left Colorado, but it was a popular spot to go to when we visited.  We didn't want to pay to go look at the water, so we just visited this side!

There's a swimming area on this side of the dam, and lots of people go tubing on the river as well.  We enjoyed our visit but were feeling ready to get on with the rest of journey - onward onto roads unknown to us!  My thoughts were definitely on the Road to Oklahoma!

This is my 9 inch block.  This is a nice easy block!  Just a few triangles, then simple piecing to get it together.  I think an easy block is a good way to start our week.  Now, it's time to go download instructions for week 2 and get started!

If you haven't signed up yet, go ahead and do it - the link is over in the sidebar!  You'll get all the information by email so you can Road Trip along with us!
