Road Trip Quilt Along, Day 4 - Arches National Park and Colorado Beauty

I was definitely anticipating today's trip as we had booked an appointment to visit Arches National Park!

This is a beautiful area of the country, always a nice drive, and we were enjoying the day, though it was very hot, over 100 degrees.

I love all the rock formations, they are so interesting!

And the white fluffy clouds!

We had to wait in a long line to be admitted to the park!  But it was well worth it.

Since it was so hot we mostly drove around the park, and I hopped in and out to get pictures!  I took a bunch, too many to share them all, but here are a few of my favorites!

We took the short hike to the overview of Delicate Arch, but my picture didn't come out of that spot.  We would love to visit again when the weather is more suitable for hiking!

Balance rock was a favorite for sure!

There are many beautiful arches, and so many interesting formations!

We got a kick out of the fact that we decided this looked like Nefertiti, and we were quite correct as that it what it is called!

I spotted this in the gift shop while we were picking up souvenirs!  Maybe someday I will make a fun little quilt inspired by some of my pictures!

Back on the road, we crossed over into Colorado, and onward to Grand Junction for the next night's stay.

The sight of water after a day in the desert was refreshing!  We treated ourselves to dinner at Red Lobster, and checked into our hotel for the night.  One more day of driving, then we would be staying put for a few days to visit my hometown.  We were definitely getting into the flow of the days spent driving and enjoying seeing new things!

I thought this block was perfect for our first night in Colorado - Colorado Beauty.  I chose to make this using all half square triangles.  So it's just a matter of making the triangles and arranging them in the right order!  We'll all be great at triangles soon, I think - practice makes perfect!

Hope you are making good progress with your blocks!
