June Mini Madness 2021 Block 26

When you take different units and mix and match them you can come up with so many different quilt blocks.  This block uses diamond in a square, flying geese and half square triangles.  Quick and fun!

Cutting instructions:

For 4 inch block cut two 1 7/8 squares of dark and background (cut in half diagonally), one 2 ½ inch square and eight 1 ½ inch squares background, four 1 ½ x 2 ½ inch rectangles of dark, and four 1 ½ inch squares of light.

For 6 inch block cut two 2 3/8 squares of dark and background (cut in half diagonally), one 3 ½ inch square and eight 2 inch squares background, four 2 x 3 ½ inch rectangles of dark, and four 2 inch squares of light.

First, sew half square triangle units using the dark and background triangles. Press the seams toward the background to make the block easier to assemble.

Next, sew flying geese units using the dark rectangles and small background squares.

The last unit is a diamond in a square unit using the large background square and light squares.

Arrange the units as shown below:

Pressing the seams on the half square triangle toward the background really makes this block much easier to sew:

And it helps to keep those points nice and sharp, too!

Have a great Saturday!  See you tomorrow with block 27!
