June Mini Madness 2021 - Day 2

Well, there were a few glitches in my Day 1 - my video didn't post correctly on Facebook, but all in all, I think I survived, and I'm sure each day will get a little easier and better!  I also forgot to pass on a good tip for you.  When you are cutting the pieces it is helpful to cut a full strip from the width of fabric.  I will give you heads up when it isn't the best use of fabric, but for the most part you will need a few basic sizes of strips and you can cut pieces from the strips as you go. It's easier and will save you a bit of fabric as well.  So, on to block 2!

Today's block is a super quick and easy one!

For the 4 inch block you will need:

  • Two 2 1/2 inch squares of light fabric (for this one it's better to cut two squares than a strip).
  • Two 1 1/2 inch squares of dark fabric (cut a strip from the width of your fabric and sub-cut two squares).
  • Two 1 1/2 inch squares and two 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch rectangles.  Cut a 1 1/2 inch strip and sub-cut from this)
For the 6 inch block you will need:

  • Two 3 1/2 inch squares of light fabric (for this one it's better to cut two squares than a strip).
  • Two 2 inch squares of dark fabric (cut a strip from the width of your fabric and sub-cut two squares).
  • Two 2 inch squares and two 2 x 3 1/2 inch rectangles.  Cut a 2 inch strip and sub-cut from this).

Start by sewing the small dark and background squares together. Press seam toward the dark square.

Sew a background rectangle to each of these to make a square.  Lay these out with the 2 1/2 (3 1/2) inch squares to create your block.
Sew together and you are finished!

Here is my six and four inch versions together:

Since I'm having some trouble getting my videos to load on Facebook, here is the link to the same thing on youtube.

See you tomorrow with another block!
