Stitching Sunshine Blog Hop

Welcome to my post for the Stitching Sunshine Blog Hop!  Carla always has the best ideas for hops, and this one was right up my alley - I love yellow (and blue, of course) and I love stitching up some sunshine!
So, of couse I jumped in with anticipation!  We've had a fairly gloomy spring here on the Oregon coast, so it was fun to play with some bright yellow fabrics.

I had the perfect collection I wanted to work with - most of a Sunny Side Up fat quarter collection from Island Batik, plus the scraps I had left from making a pattern sample for the Spring/Summer 2019 catalog using the same collection.  My pattern is called May Roses, and I had some blocks left from making a smaller sample for my local quilt shop as well, so I added those to the mix to see what I could come up with.
I started out by working with my leftover blocks and made a little wallhanging sized quilt:
And then I only had 3 more blocks left, so I thought a little table runner might be a fun idea.
Oh yes, that definitely adds a touch of sunshine to my dining room!  Next I decided to tackle some of those fat quarters.  Hmm....how about a little baby size quilt using my CityScape pattern?

First I needed to find 7 fat quarters with no chunks cut out of them.  Then the fun of piecing could start!
I decided to use some solid gray for the sashing - it gives a nice calming effect.
I quited it in yellow thread with an overall meander.  Don't you love those blue strawberries on a yellow background?
Love it!  But I still have a lot of fabric left, so maybe one more project?  Well, I'm on a roll with remaking some patterns so how about Daisy Garland?  I found a few more whole fat quarters and got to work again...

Pretty!  By now I was getting close to deadline time, and decided to quilt this one in an easy swirl in a light blue thread.

And this morning I got some pictures of it in the sunshine - so nice.

Four projects finished with!  That's a lot of sunshine!  But....
I still have a big stack of scraps!  I've decided to use these to make a quilt from Bonnie Hunter's String Fling book.  Blue Skies is going to be a fun summer project, so I'll be Stitching Sunshine for the next few months it looks like.

Thanks, Carla for hosting this hop!  Hope everyone else has had as much fun stitching sunshine as I have!  Make sure to visit the other blogs on today's schedule:

Wow! You sure got a lot of sunshine done for the blog hop! They are each gorgeous in their own way. This is one of my favorite colorways that I rarely use...what is up with that?

Wow wow wow...You have lots of fabulous "Sunshine" goodness to show us. I love how you can find so many ways to use extra blocks and scraps to make new and fun other things too. Of course that is my favorite line of IB. I had that in my surprise package last year. Thanks for inspiring us to find so many ways to play! I'm curious, what quilt are you going to do in the String Fling book? It's my favorite book!

You've been busy with your sunshine projects! I love how you used the Island Batik line of Sunny Side Up! They were perfect for this blog hop! I also love how each project, although using the same fabrics has a totally different look!
Happy Quilting! :-)

Your companion pieces to May Roses are some of my favourites in this whole hop. The colours are just glorious and of course they yell "sunflowers" to which I am very partial. Thanks for linking up with the Chameleon's Colour & Inspiration Tuesday. :)
