I'm really happy with how my first row looks! The scrappy teals are really beautiful, and show off the piecing! I thought I would give you some tips on sewing these together, if you haven't done so yet.
I don't use a lot of pins for sewing these together, but it can help to get those points all lined up. I like to open up the seam before I sew it and see how those points are looking. If you are pinning, the best way is to insert one pin down through both points, then use a second pin to secure the position and pull the first one out.
You can also match them as you sew, which I prefer. I fold the top seam back, matching points as I hold the seam firmly and sew my seam.
I sew my seam just to the outside of the point to allow for the turn of the fabric on the seam.
Looking good! Sometimes I do re-sew a point. To do this I don't rip out the entire seam, just an inch or so before and behind the offensive point. Realign the points and re-sew. I limit myself to two tries! This quilt has a lot of piecing, so don't worry if a point or two aren't perfect - it won't show!
This row was one of the difficult ones, so don't be discouraged! The next block is a lot easier - I promise! I'm sure you gained some confidence and skill while doing these which will make the rest of the project feel a lot easier. Thanks for sewing along with me, tomorrow we'll start the next row!
