Here we are, another new year to experience! I'm sure there will be highs and lows, good times and hard times, but through it all we learn, grow and continue on. Looking back, there is never enough time, but looking forward we have 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days ahead and that seems like more than enough time for all of our hopes and plans. So, here are just a couple of my plans for the upcoming year:
UFO Challenge:
One of my plans is to complete 12 projects that I have stalled on. I drew a number (7) and will work on this one in January. I got this far on the Blue Skies quilt from Bonnie Hunter's String Fling book. I miscalculated the half square triangles for the border, and also realized that it's a bit smaller than I like for a queen size quilt. It's been sitting for at least a year and a half. Today I decided to decide on my plan of action for it. After browsing Pinterest I saw one that has an added plain border, and I think that will be the way to add enough inches and not make more half square triangles. Since I used Island Batik for the center, I'll see if I have a blue I like for the border and add that. Then I just need to find a backing, add batting and quilt it! I'll be happy to cross this one off my list!
Hometown Nostalgia Quilt Along:
I decided to jump in and do a quilt along for this fun quilt! It features 12 different blocks, so one row a month and at the end of the year you will have a lovely quilt! You can read more about this quilt here. I am working up the fabric requirements now, and will have that available early next week, then we can get started on January 15! The blocks are 6 inches and are made using basic units, so should be do-able for just about any level of quilter. I know I am looking forward to it!
I'm also planning on starting a couple of new projects - I am going to make a 365 Challenge Quilt, and I also have the patterns for the Women of the Bible Sampler that I want to work on. So I think that's plenty of sewing variety, plus I'm working on decluttering my sewing room. Well, I guess I am pretty ambitious this time of year, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I think it's going to be a great year of quilting!
Blue skies is amazing - glad you are coming up with a plan for it.

You have some great plans for the year! Wishing you a perfect 1/4" and plenty of time to get them done.
ReplyDeleteDid I interpret your statement correctly? Are you running a year long quilt along using your quilt as the inspiration? If so I’d be happy to publicize it on my blog entry on Mysteries and Quilt Alongs that I also share with a guild in Columbia, Maryland to put in there newsletter. Please let me know. Brsinstitches .gmail.com. Don’t know why I’m coming up anonymous but I can work around that!
