It's been a good Saturday, lots of little things being worked on - and progress being made! I picked my center for the
Stay at Home Round Robin. I've been wanting to do something with this block for a while know. It was a block I designed for the quilt shop last year. I think it's super cute! I think I will add a small border before the first round starts, just to make sure it stands out nicely!
After that decision was made, I got busy pulling out all of my scrap collection. It's gotten way out of hand and was the prompt yesterday for the Sewing Room Decluttering Challenge. I do love making scrap quilts, but this is just way too much to store in my small space, so I am working on reducing it by half. This will still leave me plenty, and you know how scraps are, they just start to multiply when you aren't looking! I have not opened most of those bins in years, so I'm sure they hold some long-forgotten treasures that I really don't need anymore.

This bin is full of scraps as well - strips of 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 inches and pieces for fall projects in the bottom. I'll take a look through here, too and see what I can let go. I don't really use these very often, so am wondering about whether I really want to take time to keep this system up. It takes a lot of time to cut everything down into the strips, and if I'm not using them this way it's a waste of that time as well as of my storage. Time to make some decisions and free up some space.

Lastly, I have a whole lot of flannel scraps as well. I save them from making Christmas pajamas. My goal is to make four more scrap quilts using these for my daughters (and finish the first one that I made - still working on clipping a huge rag quilt). I think I probably have more saved than I need, so I will go through what I have and pass on some of the ones I don't like as much as the others. Then I need to schedule time to work on these as well as come up with some ideas as I find making the rag quilts too tedious. I'm sure there are better ways to use the flannel that I will enjoy more.
I haven't done any sewing on my Blue Skies project yet, but I did order batting and backing. Oh, and I found more triangles for another border on it. So, I guess I may take a shot at sewing those up and adding them to the top this week. I'm giving myself a week to get this done, so I can spend the last week of the month quilting it. Looking forward to my first public finish of the year!
