For the first time in a couple of weeks I was able to give myself the gift of just relaxing and playing in my sewing room yesterday, and it was fabulous!
I started out by catching up on my Mini Madness project. Yes, one block a day hasn't been happening due to our bathroom update. But now I am back on track - aren't these pretty?
We did have the vanity installed yesterday, and will install the toilet today, so at least we'll be able to use this bathroom which will be nice as our other bathroom is all the way downstairs at the other end of the house - a long trek for nighttime visits! We've done all we can do until the new shower arrives, so no more work here for now, thank goodness. We did all the demo on our own, which was messy work for sure, but we are grateful that the structure is all sound and in great condition. So with all that I was feeling a bit down, but a day spent quilting was good medicine for sure.
I'm excited about these little blocks! I really enjoy how quickly they go together - the seams are short so the sewing goes fast.
When I got those done I got to thinking about making a quick project with these fun templates I got from Missouri Star Quilt Company (this is my affiliate link, if you purchase using it you will get 20% off your order of $50.00 and I receive a small commission). They are so cute! I had a brainstorm that I could use my Floral Irish Chain pattern, and it would be perfect for the small templates, so I started looking at what fabric I could use for a Christmas quilt.
Of course, I picked red and green! This little top was sewn together over the course of the afternoon, and I pressed it this morning. It still needs borders, but I'm kind of excited to use the templates for some cute applique shapes!
I was debating whether to use red, green, or a variety of fabrics for the appliques. I will probably use a variety because the poinsettia needs to be red, and the holly leaves should be green! See how cute this is looking? My plan for today is to decide on borders and add the appliques. So fun!
Did you see that I have another set of templates to give away? See my instagram post to enter!
