Six inch Road Trip Blocks, plus Sewing Room Reset

Yesterday was a good day, I was a lot less woozy feeling and actually feel like I am on the mend!  I started out by getting the remaining rows done for the 6 inch Road Trip quilt.

I didn't have too many issues with the added rows, except for the first block - it looked a little odd when I sewed the sashing on, then I realized that the seam had slipped when I was sewing it.

That was the only time I needed the seam ripper the whole day!

It's really fun seeing the quilt top grow, row by row!

And then there was just one row left to add!

I tried a couple of options for the border, and am leaning towards this green.

Then I decided that I needed to reset the workstations in my sewing room.  This time of year the sun comes straight in on my cutting table, making it impossible to use it on sunny days without closing the shade.

And while I was at it, the shade needed to have some of the rings on the back replaced, which means rethreading the lift cords.  And while I'm doing that, I've been meaning to caulk around the window as it has some rather large gaps and is drafty in the winter.  So while I was at it, I took care of those things as well.  It kept me busy the rest of the day, plus I used two whole tubes of caulk!  I still need a bit more, but I got most of it filled in.  And now my shade hangs nice and straight again!

I think this arrangement will be much better.  I want to order a tall and narrow bookcase for the left side of the window, and still need to get rid of some stuff, but the room feels more open this way, and the sun can shine in without making me blind!

The design wall isn't as accessible with the cutting table here, but I will figure out how to make it work for me.  All in all, a pretty good day's work!  I've got quite a few projects to work on this coming week, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the new arrangement works out.  Here's to a good week of catching up!  Maybe those 9 inch road trip blocks will come down before the end of the week...
