May UFO progress report

I'm happy to say that I managed to finish the May UFO project - my Sewcialites 2 quilt!

As you can see it was a windy day, which was great for showing off the pieced back as well as hiding the fact that I hung the quilt upside down to get pictures!  Oh well!

This was a fun project!  I'm glad I went with the smaller size, and was happy with the way it came out.  And I am glad to check this quilt off my list.  I used up quite a bit of the Sunset Plains bundle from Island Batik - especially since I made a pieced back from more of it!

The finished quilt is 63 x 63.  I used Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 for the batting and Auriful thread variegated Desert Dawn for the quilting.  It looks as good on the white as it did on the black for last year's September Ambassador challenge!

My January UFO is still not finished, I need to finish quilting the border.  I haven't made any further progress on the One Block Wonder or the Farmer's Wife.  Maybe June might see one of them finished as well.  My June project is called Grammy Squares.  I'm not sure how much work this one is going to be to get finished, I only have one completed block so far.  I'll pull it out this weekend and see how much I can get done - I think it will be fun, it's a scrappy quilt with the same block so I think it will be easy sewing.  And I have the backing already chosen, so that's a plus!  I'll check back in next week and show you my progress.

Hope you had a productive May!  I feel like I did - have some more projects to share with you, plus a new Island Batik Ambassador challenge.  How do you feel about flying geese?  I love them, so many ways to make them and they are so versatile!  I'll be showing some of my favorite methods throughout the month, so hopefully you will learn to love them, too!

I LOVE the big stars in the quilt!!!
And bonus to use up fabric on the back! The back is a stand-alone quilt as well!!!
