Time to get motivated!

Now that I've got my May Island Batik Ambassador project finished and published, I can get myself in gear to work on my May UFO project - Sewcialites 2.  I just finished these last three blocks, so I'm glad that I can just shift right into finishing the quilt!

Thes fabrics are so pretty!  They are my leftover fabrics from the September Island Batik Blog hop from last year.  The fabrics are Sunset Plains, and that blog hop also featured a Studio 180 Designs Ruler!

The Tucker Trimmer came in handy for several of these!  It's always nice when you can get more use out of a tool you already own!  I'm keeping this one handy for squaring up half square triangles in the future, too.

I love how different this simple Shoo Fly block looks with a change in color!  I was looking for my layout idea for my quilt but could not find the one I had in mind.  So, I pulled up EQ8 and started playing around with some ideas.  I ended up creating something I liked even better, plus it even kind of echos the official layout design.

So now I just need to cut and sew some big half square triangles and I'll be ready to lay out my blocks!  I will need one block for the center star, I'm thinking some kind of a signature block might be fun.  Or maybe just a big nine patch, like I put in the mock up.  I can decide that when I get the blocks laid out.  Which is my plan for the day!

I don't think anything motivates me as much as getting to this stage of a quilt - it's really fun to see the blocks come together into a finished top!

Make sure you visit my post from yesterday, and enter to win my Let It Snow scrap bundle!

What are you working on today?  Hope you are as excited about your project as I am about mine!
