June Mini Madness 2021 Block 22

Welcome to another day of June Mini Madness.  Today's block is a favorite of mine.  This block also uses the Birds in the air unit, plus some half square triangles.

Cutting instructions:

For 4 inch block cut one 2 7/8 square (cut in half diagonally) background, three 1 7/8 inch squares light and five dark (cut in half diagonally), and four 1 ½ inch squares light.

For 6 inch block cut one 3 7/8 inch square (cut in half diagonally), three 2 3/8 squares light and five dark (cut in half diagonally), and four 2 inch squares dark.

Looks like a lot of pieces, but this block goes together easily!  First, make six half square triangle units with the dark and medium fabrics.

Take four of these and the four dark squares and sew two four-patch units with the medium triangles touching.

Now use the remaining half square triangle units along with the rest of the dark triangles to make the birds in the air units, finishing up with the large background triangles.

Arrange the units as shown.

Sew together to complete block!

Thanks for sewing along!  I'll be back tomorrow with another block!
