June Mini Madness 2021 - Block 20

Wow, block 20!  That's officially 1/3 the way through our mad adventure!  Today we are working with Flying Geese and angles to make a pretty Ribbon Block.

Cutting:

For 4 inch block, cut two 1 ½ x 2 ½ rectangles from light and medium and four from dark.  Cut sixteen 1 ½ inch squares of background.

For 6 inch block, cut two 2 x 3 ½ inch rectangles from light and medium and four from dark.  Cut sixteen 2 inch squares of background.

You will use 8 of the background squares with 2 dark rectangles and one each of light and medium to make flying geese units.

With the remaining dark, light and medium rectangles you will make the angle units.  You have to pay attention to the direction that the background triangles are sewn on.  For the light and one dark you will sew the background square from the upper left to the lower right.  For the medium and one dark you will sew the background square from the upper right to the lower left.  Trim and press the triangle out.

Add the remaining square to the bottom of the rectangle, sewing the same angle.  Trim and press.

Lay out your block as above.   I decided to sew my units together in squares.

Then sew all four quarters together to complete the block!

Very nice!  Congratulations on making 20 blocks - just 10 more to go!  See you on Monday!
