June Mini Madness 2021 - Block 18

You will be very happy to know that there are no triangles in today's block!  This is a good old stand-by, Variable Star, and we'll just be making four flying geese with sew and flip corners.

Cutting:
For 4 inch block, cut one 2 ½ inch square and four 1 ½ x 2 ½ inch rectangles of medium, eight 1 ½ squares of dark, and four 1 ½ inch squares of background.

For 6 inch block, cut one 3 ½ inch square and four 2 x 3 ½ inch rectangles of medium, eight 2 inch squares of dark and four 2 inch squares of background.

I just love the feather print, and am glad to be able to feature a good size square of it in the center of the star!

Start out by sewing the dark squares to one side of the medium rectangles.  Trim the seam, flip the triangle out and press.

Repeat, adding the remaining squares to the other side of the rectangle to make four flying geese units.

Arrange with large center square and background squares to make a star block.

Sew it together and you are done!   Tomorrow we'll be making another block with flying geese, so that's something to look forward to.  Have a wonderful Friday!
