I buckled down and got the quilting finished on my secret sewing project, so that will be ready to go out in the mail on Monday (fingers crossed it will arrive in time, the postal system is pretty slow right now!) So this happened this afternoon!
Putting the batting and backing into a time out worked. The batting really needed to rest and get all the wrinkles out. Note to self, make sure to unpackage batting a day or two before attempting to use it!Wow - I am just in love with how it looks. I was so nervous to start stitching on it! I'm stitching in the ditch along the sashing to start with. I really started debating about if I really wanted to actually quilt it or not, I felt like I might ruin it! Then I had to laugh at myself, this quilt is for me. I really want to do all the work on it myself. What am I so nervous about?
So I started stitching. And now I am super excited about the whole process! I bought heirloom wool batting from Hobbs to use in this quilt, and it feels so soft and cozy. This quilt is going to be wonderful, no matter how I quilt it! Onwards and upwards!

Your Dear Jane is beautiful! I love the fabric colors. Happy stitching and remember, Brenda P says "finished is better than perfect".
Wow, what a beauty! For sure it's going to be perfect 🤩
It is a knockout! After all those hours, I do understand the hesitation, but it will be beautiful with your quilting.
Just deciding on the layout is monumental....This will be your family's heirloom...girls will have to draw lots to see who gets it! Hand pieced AND hand quilted...very rare occurrence in these times.
It is already beautiful. That's a good idea to stich in the ditch first. I am glad you are quilting it yourself. Everytime I attend a show and tell, the first question which is asked after people ooh and awe over the quilt is "did you quilt it?" You will be able to say "yes, I did" and they will ooh and awe even more! You go girl!
This is going to be a beautiful quilt!!!!
I've loved it from the beginning ... love it even more now!
