I don't feel like I was very productive last week, even though I probably accomplished more than I realize. It really helps when I actually blog about what I'm doing because I can actually see what I've been up to - so here goes...
I started out by dumping out my bin of fall fabrics and cutting a pile of 2 1/2 inc squares to make a special request mug rug set. I had so much fun that I made two extra ones to list in my Etsy shop!I'll probably make a couple more of these they are fun and I love playing with my fall fabrics! I also set aside a baggie of scraps to share with a friend...I have a notion that she's working on Bonnie Hunter's new Apalachian Autumn project :)
I finished binding the last 5 mug rugs I made with these beautiful blue and white pieces leftover from a previous Island Batik project. Most of them use the leftover triangles and four patch units I had made, so they are all different, but using the same fabrics. I've got them listed in my Etsy shop now as well.
I also made good progress on my October Island Batik Ambassador Challenge! I actually have my top put together and am getting ready to add the thread painting using the beautiful Aurifil thread that was provided for me!
Bobbins wound and ready to get sewing!!!
I got my fourth block finished for the Sewcialites Quilt Along (Spirited is on the bottom right). I find myself looking forward to Fridays and working on these little 3 1/2 inch blocks. It's a nice challenge, but only takes a short time to complete. Unless you sew one of your units in the wrong direction. Twice. As they say, third times the charm, and now it looks as it should!
For my weekend I decided to focus on making progress on my Crazy Jane triangle borders. I got seven done! I still have about 20 triangles left plus three corner kites to complete before I can add the borders, so I need to hustle if I want to get them done before the end of the month! I really want my top together no later than November 15 so that I have plenty of time to work on the quilting - my plan is to get this done by Dec 31, so I definitely need to stay focused if I want to accomplish that. Fo those that asked, each of the center blocks finishes at 4 1/2 inches and the corner triangles are 5 x 8 inches. For more information, see the Dear Jane site. As my friend Ruthe says, I'm not sure if it's an addiction or an affliction - hence my affectionate nickname for it!
So, that's my week in a nutshell. Way more productive than it seemed!
