June Mini Madness - Block 8 Pinwheel

Time to add a new technique to our quilt - half square triangles.  Don't worry, we'll start out easy and work our way up to the more difficult blocks!
If you would prefer, you can round up my measurements for the triangles, then trim them down to the size needed for the block, which I will note in the directions.  I like to cut them at the size needed, but you are free to use the technique that works best for you!

For 3 inch block, cut two 2 3/8 squares each of red and background fabric.  (2 inch sewn squares)

For 6 inch block, cut two 3 7/8 inch squares each of red and background fabric. (3 ½ inch squares)

Cut squares in half diagonally and sew together to make half square triangle units.  The sizes after sewing are in italics above.  Trim dog ears and make sure units are the correct size.

Lay out and sew together in pairs.  Take care to match seam allowances and points
Sew pairs together to complete block.  Be careful and dont sew into those points!
Here's how they look when you get them just right!
Block 8 is finished!  Hope you are ready to tackle more triangles this week!
