June Mini Madness - Block 5 Frayed Four Patch

Today's block is the Frayed Four Patch.  This block is just like yesterday's block, but instead of making two four patch block, we'll be making two each of different colors.

Cutting for the 3 inch block, one strip each of two colors 1 1/4 by 6 inches and two background strips 1 1/4 x 6 inches.  For the 6 inch block you will cut one strip of two colors 2 x 9 inches and two background strips 2 x 9 inches.

You can strip piece this block, but I cut the individual 1 1/4 inch squares and sewed them together.  You can see here how I chain pieced them.
I clipped them apart in their pairs, then sewed the mini four patches together.
Then I arranged them into the block, and sewed it.
Here is the finished block - pretty cute!  We're moving right along with our quilt along - it's been fun seeing other blocks on Instagram and facebook - look for the #juneminimadness hashtag to see them.

I'll be back tomorrow with another fun pieced block!

This is a really cute block! I’m totally enjoying making the 3” blocks. They go together so quickly! Thanks Pamela!
