May Roses Pattern, featuring Sunny Side Up by Island Batik

I had a request from the local quilt shop where I work to add a smaller size to my May Roses Pattern, so I got to work and got that done.

I'm really glad that this top is only 48 x 48 because I only had a weekend to get it quilted and ready for the Willamette Valley Quilt Festival!  For the May Roses block I did a curvy outline around the patches in the center.

For the chain blocks I did a diagonal curve through the center of the dark blue, and a loop in the yellow print.

For the inner border, I quilted a swirl with the yellow thread, then a meander in the border.  I just love the border fabric, the cherries in it are so cute!

I ordered the Como Blue Color Builder box by Aurifil from the Fat Quarter Shop earlier this month and it had the perfect shade of blue for this quilt!

So, now the quilt is off with the rest of the samples, kits and products from Threads That Bind and is headed off to the quilt festival for the weekend!  I do have the pattern available in my Etsy shop, and with it you can make this quilt in your choice of two sizes - 48 x 48 or 61 x 61.  This has a lot of half square triangles, and it's set diagonally so you piece the setting triangles.  It's not super hard, but you do have to pay attention to get all the triangles sewn together properly!

Just click the image above if you would like to find out more about my May Roses pattern!

I had it ready for quilting when I was asked for a photo me in my studio so Island Batik could post an intro on their blog.  With a little luck, the sunshine came out and I was able to get a picture of me with my finished top!  Go ahead and check out the interview - you might find out a few fun facts about me.  Notice how I dressed to match my quilt - not on purpose, but it is one of my favorite color combinations!

Now I'm off to put the finishing touches on the Stepping Stones Sampler lesson that is coming out on February 1!  If you haven't signed up yet we've only been getting our fabrics together so go ahead, click the link on the sidebar and sign up!
