Stuck on Selvages

I don't know why, but I am having quite the affair with selvages lately. I can't explain it, but they just make me feel so happy when I see them all stitched up in tidy rows with their color dots and words showing clear and true. Just love them!

Today I made a little mug rug using some short pieces - I sewed them diagonally onto a piece of batting and backing, so it was quilted at the same time as it was stitched. It was fun digging through my stash of selvages to find some fun ones. Then I decided to work on something else - a quilted journal cover.
For this one I needed to use my longer pieces, but the funny thing about selvages is that I never use them up. My bin always seems just as full after making something as it was before! Kind of like strips!

I finished up both projects with some of my hoard of Amy Butlers Wall Flower print in Cherry. Love it! A bright green ribbon finished off the journal cover with a nice splash of color. I've listed both projects for sale in my Etsy shop, if you might be interested.

Do you like selvages, too? I know they are not for everyone, but I just love them. I plan of re-covering my rolling chair with them eventually, and would love to do a valance also. There are a lot of fun projects on the internet, and every time I see one, I want to make it!

Till tomorrow!

Pamela
