DH and I took a whirlwind trip to Tennessee at the beginning of the month and now we have the post vacation slump going on! We sure enjoyed spending time with our family, and it's hard to come home to the normal routine. I'm trying hard to adjust!
The main reason for taking the trip was to celebrate our newest SIL's graduation from his Army training in Georgia! So we wrapped a short road trip into the trip, too. Definitely a big milestone and we were so happy to be there for it! They are in the process of moving to Texas and will be stationed there for four years. What a happy day that was!
We also got to see the concert our oldest grandson did with his friend! So cool that they are making music together - their band is MG33 - not my usual style of music, but we really enjoyed seeing him do his thing!
We also visited Cheekwood with my Mom and sister. They had a lovely special floral display of flowers inspired by the costumes from The Gilded Age. I'll have to check out the show, I really enjoyed the floral mannequins!
Here's a picture of us ladies! It was hot and humid, but we had a good day, and enjoyed a picnic lunch on a bench in the shade. Always good to spend time with my Mom and sis!
We also got to see my younger grandson play in a soccer match! He's the goalie, so lots of standing and watching, but it was good to see him doing his thing, too. Tennessee is definitely hot and humid in August!
She just turned 13, so I probably won't get too many more of these costume requests. I was glad to make it happen! It was a trick sourcing the fabric, but I found a great selection at Online Fabric Store.
With Joann fabrics closing, I am forced to rely on online sources for garment and home decor fabrics and this site has a great selection and the service was good. They don't really carry quilting cottons, but have lots of other fabrics and notions. I've tried Amazon for some items, but it's kind of hit or miss, and you have to watch quantity - I almost bought 30 yards of 1/2 inch elastic by mistake, it would take me so many years to use that much!
Anyway, I digress! I also wanted to make sure to share the Songbird Blog hop again - my post will be on Wednesday and my quilt is almost finished! It's so pretty, you are going to love it! Here is the schedule from the previous days so you can catch up:
