Island Batik Ambassador 2024 Review and Farewell

I definitely enjoyed the past year as an Island Batik Ambassador - so many fun projects!  I have loved being part of their program and will miss being part of it next year, I'm sure.  I'm excited to see who has been chosen for 2025 and can't wait to see all the great projects, but today I wanted to do a roundup of my Island Batik projects for the past year!  There will be a link to each project's blog post so you can read more about each one if you like.

February:

January is an off month, where we do an unboxing video, and we kick off February with a blog hop - this year our theme was Log Cabins, which was fun!

I loved using the Fairy Floss collection to create my Box Office quilt!  You can read more about that in my challenge blog post.

March:

March was an open challenge, which we could do whatever we wanted to.  I used the Zen Funk collection to make a fun quilt using a strip pack:

This is Oscillation.  I really enjoyed making this one!  Here is the blog post about this one.

April:

For April, we go to make a fun stuffed animal using a Funky Friends Factory pattern!  I chose Sue the Squirrel and made her to send to my oldest daughter for her birthday.

I think she came out really cute!  Read more about Sue in my blog post.

May:

In May we were challenged to create a paper pieced Celebration quilt!  I made this one to celebrate a friend's birthday:  Birthday Prisms.

I used the lovely Reflections collection for this quilt!

June:

In June we used Studio 180 designs rulers to make a donation quilt for Sleep In Heavenly Peace.  I went bright and scrappy with my quilt!  My blog post explains more about this challenge and includes a link to the free pattern!

August:

July is another unboxing video, and in August the challenge was to make a Magnificent Mini!  One of my favorite challenges, of course!  I used the Tranquil Moments to make this sweet doll quilt to give to my granddaughter!

September:

Adventurous Applique was the theme of our September Blog hop, and I loved using the new applique technique on my quilt!

October:

ByAnnie patterns have become a highlight of my Ambassador projects, and this one was another winner!  I made the Travel Essentials 2.0 organizer, and I love it!  I chose fabrics from the Midnight Garden Collection for this project - so pretty!

November:

Dresden Plates were a fun challenge to make!  I used a fun tool to make a beauty of a quilt - Four Patch Dresden.  I even did some hand sewing for this one!  Flowing Meadows was the collection used for this one.

December:

My last project for the year was this table runner.  I used several winter collections in this project and I love it!  This is a variation on my Under the Stars Table runner using 6 inch blocks.

You definitely need to go check out this blog post!  I am giving away a set of strips, and some other goodies and you still have time to enter (by midnight New Year's Eve)!

So hard to say goodbye...

I really have loved being an Island Batik Ambassador for the past 10 years!  I have made well over 100 different projects all using beautiful Island Batik fabrics.  Thanks to their generous sponsors I have accumulated lots of great rulers from Studio 180 designs, patterns from Funky Friends Factory and By Annie, an Accuquilt Go cutting system with an assortment of fun Block on Board Dies and 8 inch Qube, and an Oliso Smart IronSchmetz Needles has provided plenty of needles, Aurifil has provided thread, and batting from Hobbs!

And of course a huge shout out to Natasha, Elizabeth, and the rest of the Island Batik team!  You are the best!

I've made ambassador friends from all over the world, and learned so much from the challenges!  It's hard to say goodbye, and I wish the 2024 Island Batik Ambassadors all the best!  Here is the list, make sure you check out their blogs and see their projects as well.  So much talent, and wonderful quilters.  I wish them all the best for 2025 in all they do!
