Bits and Pieces, and More Piecing!

Today the Bits and Pieces by Kathy Engle was featured on the All Puffed Up Blog Hop with Island Batik!

Emily of the Darling Dogwood made a pretty quilt that her little boy just loves!  She's offering a giveaway too, so will definitely want to check out her blog post!

Sarah made a delightful rainbow quilt - and she also shows how she created it, including a fun matching binding - make sure you read her blog post, too!

I've got my quilt ready to show but my date isn't until later in the month, so I've been doing some sorting out and cleaning up in my sewing room!  I found a baggy of leftover bits and pieces, so I sewed them together to make this block for an orphan block quilt.  This should brighten it up a bit!

I also made a nice size stack of string blocks and got my bin down from overflowing to just full!  I also started two new projects, so I guess I won't get too bored anytime soon!  Instead of dumping out the entire bin, this time I just pulled out a layer from the top and worked from there.  I think it was a good tactic, and it didn't take long to put the leftover bits away when I was done!  I added a few long strings, but am going to try not to add too many more until I sew my way to the bottom.  It feels good to work on getting my scraps under control!

This week, I hope to get my quilt top finished for the March Island Batik Ambassador challenge.  I'm loving how it's coming along and plan to write a pattern for it as well!  I'm also going to start putting together my Farmer's wife quilt!  I decided to do a little different layout, so I'll have to make a couple more six inch blocks.  Maybe I'll pick out two of the Sewcialites 2 blocks - that would work well!  I am still deciding on a red for the cornerstones, so definitely want to get that decided soon.

So, it should be a good week!  Hope you are having a good week of stitching!
