March projects 2021

Time to think about setting some goals for this month - and while I'm at it, I'll update my Quilting PHD in 2021 progress!

First, of all my OMG for the month.  This month I am going to make my UFO the focus.  This month I am working on a special quilt for my husband - a horse quilt.  I've had this hanging around for quite a while and it's time to finish it up just in time for hisbirthday.  So my goal is to add borders, and get this quilted by March 20.

This quilt is around 42 x 58 and needs to be enlarged enough to be a good couch quilt.  I got it out and decided that I haven't been excited to work on it because I was thinking of making another round of log cabin blocks, and I just wasn't thrilled with that plan.  I asked myself what kind of blocks I wanted to make and I decided that Variable Stars with fussy cut centers would be fun.  I had a couple more cuts of the center panel, so I fussy cut squares for the center of the stars - so fun!  Now I'm raring to go and ready to work on it.  Lucky DH - he'll be getting two new quilts for his birthday!

Now, for my February PHD progress:

I finished Seashore Splendor!

And the Sloth quilt:

I made a new sample for Threads That Bind

And made a nice quilt for a Project Quilting challenge:

Plus the monthly challenge for Island Batik...

Pretty good month, and now I'm one ahead of schedule for my UFO's, but do have a few new starts that need to be attended to!
