New Year Plans - UFO list for PHD in 2021

Now that it's a New Year, I suddenly feel like I have free reign to start a whole ton of new projects, after all - I have 12 whole month for those finishes!  I hope I don't get too carried away with all of them because I'm going for my Quilting PHD in 2021 with Gail.  I've got 12 projects all lined up and ready to go already.  This will put me pretty darn close to having all my UFO's off the books and is a pretty lofty goal, but after finishing up Dear Jane last year, I think I'm up to the challenge!

1)  Quilter's Recipe Box - this is the top from my 2017 Quilt Along.  All I need to do is add a border and quilt it, and it will be finished.

2)  Seashore Splendor.  This quilt is the top from my 2019 Quilt Along.  It just needs to be quilted!

3)  Super Saturday Sampler.  This was a quilt block of the month from the local quilt shop that I taught with a quilting friend.  We each designed and taught half the blocks.  I still need to make the bottom left block, then I can put the quilt together.

4)  Joy.  This quilt is the original pattern by Jacquelyne De Jonge.  I have the middle block of the center done, but I'm not sure about my backgound color choice.  To tell you the truth I'm not sure if I am in love with it enough to want to do the rest of the quilt (which is all paper foundation quilting), or if I might want to design a simpler border to finish it off.  Time to make a decision and get this one finished for better or worse!  I did stock up on a ream of newsprint to use for the piecing if I decide to go for it.

5)  Giant Dahlia.  This was a stitchalong project I found here in 2013.  I have the dahlia done, and a couple of fabric options for the background.  I need to figure out the center, and if it needs borders, or am I going to finish it as a lap quilt.

6)  Farmer's Wife.  I started making this in Christmas fabrics.  Love the book and the stories and all the traditional blocks.  Time to get this past the finish line!  I'm not crazy about my choice for the background of these blocks, but it will look great with the right sashing.  I need to count my blocks and see how far in I am!

7)  Alouette. This was going to be a sample for the quilt shop that never got made.  I'll be taking care of that this month, and I have everything organized and ready to stitch up!

8)  Mini Memories of the Titanic.  Started this one some time ago as well.  I have all the border blocks done, so the rest shouldn't be too hard, right?

9)  Big Surf.  I made a shop sample of this and have enough fabric cut out for a second one.  Just need to make it!

10)  All Seasons Basket.  Another shop sample that never got finished.  I think the fabrics are just lovely, so I really want to get this one finished!

11)  Perry's Horse Quilt.  This is a wall hanging size quilt I want to expand into a couch quilt for my DH, his current quilt is in tatters and it's time for a new one! He will love it, I'm sure.  I need to figure out what blocks I want to make for the next border and get going on it.

12)  Cat's Fancy.  I have a ton of fabric left from previous projects that I want to use for a lap quilt. No pattern yet, so this is just a collection of fabric at the moment, but it's definitely going to become a quilt!

So that wraps up my UFO list for the year.  I need to work a bit each month on the two more time consuming ones - Joy and Farmer's Wife.  It's a pretty big commitment to add them both to the list for one year, but I think I can do it!

Don't know if I'll ever become a one project at a time kind of person, but I definitely don't want to have this number of projects piled up again!  Finish what I start is my plan, and I'm looking forward to it!  Come join us if you want to get control of your projects, too:

You have some beautiful projects and some are fairly close to finish, I am sure you will have a successful year! Good luck and have fun!

Oh, my! That is a lot to get done in one year! At least compared to my progress, which is REALLY slow! Good luck.

I need some storage boxes like you have--I haven't been very good at keeping my UFO parts together, so when I finally get back to them I have to hunt for something (usually the pattern!). I think you will have some beautiful finishes this year!

You have some great looking projects there! I have a few, but gratefully not too many so I am staying out this year. We'll see if that lands me in UFO jail in 2022!
