I'm getting restless, and really need something to focus on right now, so I have managed to talk myself into something fun for June! A little Mini Madness is in order I think...
30 is a great number of blocks for a quilt, so one block a day for a whole month. At three inches, if you add a small sashing and border you end up with a quilt that is about 20 by 23 1/2 inches. And I have a couple more ideas for how you can use these blocks in a little quilt, and since it looks like it will be a quiet fourth of July weekend I think it will be a good time to plan something fun and festive to finish up this project!
Plus it will give me something to post and get me back in the rhythm of blogging - which I miss! So you are officially invited to join me in the fun. You can download a cover sheet which will tell you how much fabric you'll need - just look over on the right sidebar and give it a click. I'm working with scraps from the Island Batik Freedom collection that I used for a Quilt of Valor last year and am making mine red, white and blue. You are welcome and encouraged to choose any color you like for yours!
I have some stash builder rolls that can serve as prizes! I'm thinking a link-up once a week to share your progress, probably on Sundays. I'm also cleaning out my Island Batik shelf getting ready for Box number 2, so have more goodies to share as well, so it's a win-win! You get some beautiful fabric and I get some room on the shelf.
Are you in? Leave me a comment on this post telling me what color(s) you like and I'll draw a winner for the first prize - two stash builder rolls (sorry, I can only mail these to the US. If you are an international reader and would be agreeable to paying the postage, though that would be great!) I'll draw the winner on Wednesday and mail it out on Thursday, so you could use these for your Mini Madness quilt if you like! Batiks are great for mini quilts because they do not fray very much.

You might want to visit the various Ambassadors blogs as well because there are lots of giveaways you can enter on their blogs, too. I love sewing with Batiks and am really drawn to blues and purples.
ReplyDelete"You had me at Hello", lol! I'm thinking pink/cream/lighter purples, or blues because they are always the answer :-)
ReplyDeleteI adore batiks and I'm a purple girl! I also love blues, greens and browns and honestly with batiks, they are all so pretty I love to use them all.
ReplyDeleteI think I will go with purple and green. With a Kona snow or bone background. Love minis.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! I'm in, and willing to pay the shipping to Canada when I win the fabric ;) Think I am going to use some of my shabby chic scraps for this project, since my studio was just recently painted a soft aqua colour. Blues, pinks, greens, purples--they all work! Thanks for planning this Pamela!
ReplyDeleteHow generous and gorgeous! Currently I am in a purples mindset but recently it was yellow/orange/red range so either would be my choice
ReplyDeleteYou had me at "mini" you know how I love them. Red, white, and blue for my mini but my choice of batiks to win would be yellows and blue. Thanks for the jump start Pam.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in, but may make the blocks a different size, like 6 or 8", with the GO dies. Not sure yet, lol.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun! I really like blues and purples.
ReplyDeleteRed, definitely red! My favorite color and I would pair it with white and blue for Quilts of Valor, or with cream for a fun little art quilt.
ReplyDeleteI am so fond of cooler colors but I do love just anything batik! I'm currently searching for pretty fabrics and can't wait for some of the fabric stores to finally open so I can make throw quilts for my daughter's bridesmaids:) Having spent so much time making and donating 200 masks, it's quilting time for me!!! Have a great weekend, stay safe!!
