Mid-month progress report - lots of stitching!

I've been stitching away this week, and ticking things off my list at a good clip!  I'm happy to report that my UFO challenge is finished for the month already! This is part of my PHD in 2020 list, so I am happy to be right on schedule!
This is my original version of the Stepping Stones Sampler quilt!  I hadn't actually planned to work on it so early in the month, but I had an unfortunate incident Monday afternoon and cut my left thumb pretty badly while chopping onions.  It was quite sore, so I needed a distraction and found that I could definitely do some free motion quilting as long as I was careful.  Changing the bobbin is a challenge, but I manage to get it in position without having to use my thumb.  Using a seam ripper is not easy, and rotary cutting was out of the question for several days, so quilting was the thing to do.

I've always really liked this quilt, so I'm happy it's finally finished!  I did a big hook swirl design on it.  I love how well it shows up in these pictures.  The binding is that fun print in the middle of the dresden plate blocks.  This is my One Monthly Goal for the month, so I'll be linking up there later.
The backing is a wide fabric with swirling dots.  I love when I can use a wide back and don't have to piece!

After that was done, I started playing with some scraps.  These were from a quilt I made for the Island Batik catalog several years ago.  Love those crisp blues and grays!
And I made something fun out of leftover blocks from another project!  I'll be showing you more about these next month - Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks is hosting a blog hop:  Stitching Sunshine - I am challenging myself to use up a whole stack of fabric in this Sunny Side Up line, so I'll be sharing everything I end up making with these happy fabrics from Island Batik!

My thumb is feeling much better, so I hope to keep up my sewing marathon and keep finishing up projects.  I have two more quilts ready for basting and quilting, so I'm excited to get those going!  I also got called back to go into the quilt shop one day a week!  I'm pretty excited to get to go someplace different for a few hours a week - we are still only allowing shopping by appointment, only one customer in the store at a time.  We are feeling it out to see how it goes, before we open up for more.  We are feeling hopeful and want to continue to help our customers.  We are also working on getting more of our special kits and projects listed in our Etsy shop.  I'll be sure to let you know, as many of them are designed by me :)

Have you been keeping up with the Ultimate Home Decor Blog Hop?  There were some more awesome projects this week, including mine!  Make sure to go visit my post and enter to win a kit to make my project!    Here's the link to see all the projects on the Island Batik Blog:

There is also a new giveaway started, you could win one of two different fat quarter bundles!  Here is the schedule for next week:

Oh Pamela! I'm glad your thumb is feeling better! It's NO FUN to have a hand injury! Hopefully you didn't have to use the seam ripper ... and don't need to use it in the near future!
However, it looks like your mishap actually worked out to the good! (Funny how that happens, eh?)
The quilting is lovely on this beautiful quilt!
Congratulations on finishing another UFO!!!
Happy Quilting! :-)

Glad to get to the end of the post and hear your thumb is doing better. You've got a lot of projects going and will need all your fingers & thumbs! Great job to keep things moving up the queue!
