Perfectly fitting...

I had a fun day of sewing today.  My bride to be daughter was here, so it was the perfect day to work on fitting her gown!
This is the dress pattern she chose.  So pretty!  We decided to leave that bustle piece off the back.  I got the bodice and sleeves fitted, and basted the skirt on to see what length to hem it.  It's going to be just beautiful!

She loved my choice of lace for the bodice and sleeves, and the little buttons that will go down the back and close the sleeves.

For me, it was so nice to be able to make small adjustments and have her try it on without having to have everything together!  I'm excited to start working on the detailing.  Plus I need to start thinking about what I would like to wear.  It's going to be such a happy day - the whole family is enjoying looking forward to it, and the trip to Boston to be part of their wonderful day.  April seems far away now, but I know it will be here before we know it!  It's nice to have this project well on the way toward getting finished.  Now I need to get to work on some more projects and clean up my sewing room.

Are you ready for the New Year?  I'm starting to work on my goals and plans...so many things going through my head, but I know for sure that there are lots of quilts planned for next year!

It looks lovely and what a terrific dress and memory you are making. Its in Boston!! If you need anything let me know, live pretty close by. And, yes, thinking of what you want to wear is going to sneak up on you - so take care of yourself in this process too.

What a beautiful dress, Pamela! It reminds me of Princess Kate's dress that she wore a few years back (and 3 children ago!). What an honor for you to make her dress and carry the wonderful memories of her in every stitch.

So pretty! You'll have to show us a picture of the completed dress and one with her wearing it.
