Small, smaller smallest - do you love miniature quilts?

I sure do!  The smaller the better!

I have all four walls in my sewing room adorned with mini quilts - above my sewing machine:
By the window:
Above the door:
And beside the closet!
So fun (and a fabulous way to be able to display more quilts).

I was super excited about the Small, Smaller, Smallest blog hop hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt - and it's been fun seeing all the posts so far.

For my project, I decided to finish this mini that I actually started a year ago.  Thimble included for scale!

I made this quilt using fabrics supplied to me by Island Batik.  The blocks are by Hope's Quilt Designs.  I quilted my mini with Aurifil thread (provided by Aurifil Thread!) - I tried using 80 wt in the blocks and it was so wonderful!  You get the impression of texture without seeing the thread so much.    Now I just have to find a spot for my mini on my wall!

Here is the list of participants in the hop again, make sure you read them all!

Oh, I have a couple of Miniature Quilts magazines to give away as well!

If you notice in my first picture, I made the blue and white one in the center for my wall above my sewing machine.  Leave me a comment and on  Friday evening I'll draw one winner for both magazines.

Thanks for reading

Pamela, what fun it must be to walk into your sewing room and look at all of your minis! I'm sure each one takes you back to the time when you made it. You are a master, for sure, with those tiny blocks!

All your minis are lovely. The project that shows a light house...is that an original or can you remember the name of the pattern?

Very pretty! I love the wave quilting in the border. I have a couple of those small quilt magazines. Also, all the Small Quilt books by Kathleen Tracy. I want to make every one of
those small quilts if I live long enough.

Whoa. Looks like you have several bits of mini heaven in your home. I admire those who work so small. Thanks for including the thimble in your last project. Hard to believe it's that tiny. Wonderful.

OMG...those are wonderful! You are so talented! I can't get over the walls with your many mini quilts. That's such a warm decoration and gallery all at the same time! I have always admired those tiny quilts. I have just one to put on the wall when it's completed, but seeing yours, I now need to add more!! Those magazines must be endless inspiration!

What a wonderful collection. I haven't made that many yet. I do have some to finish, though. Nice idea about the 80wt thread.

I have never made a mini quilt, but your beautiful examples have me itching to try my hand! I could even hand quilt them or use my sewing machine, since my longarm isn't with me at the moment!! I have really missed not having a quilt finish in the past 2 years!

Lovely to meet you on the blog hop. I am rather fond of a mini quilt, partly because it is so satisfying to finish a quilt so quickly. x

These minis are adorable. I love how you made the blue and white one on your wall!

Gosh, it was fun to see all your minis and your newest finish is wonderful. Its obvious you love doing minis, I wish I felt comfortable doing them that small, I have a hard enough time with a 1/4-inch seam, so am not sure I could go smaller with the 1/8th most use for minis.

Your mini is beautiful!

Beth said...

I love miniature quilts! They are fun to make, challenging but not overwhelming, and their size makes it possible for me to start and actually complete projects. Unlike the unfinished bigger quilts I have lingering all around my sewing room (and other rooms), my minis get finished and displayed or given away.

Siouxzq64@gmail.com said...

Wow that is awesome. Mini quilts I think are much more unforgiving when you make a cutting error. Bigger blocks I have some cheat room. I am always so in awe of people who make minis.

Kathy said...

I love the texture the quilting gave to your beautiful mini. I am anxious to try myself now. Thanks.
