Split Square Alternate block Three - Flitter

Welcome to the Quilter's Recipe box - today's block is an original design as I ran out of traditional blocks using this unit!  This is a good example of how you can take the units and create your own designs using the basic units and rearranging them.  I'm calling this block Flitter because it looks like a little butterfly in the center.

For this block you will need four triangles and once center square of your main color, four split square rectangles of an accent color, and four triangles and four split square rectangles of a background fabric.

Sew four half square triangle units and four split square units.

Arrange as below:
I just had to try it out in a quilt layout to see what it would look like, and I love it!

Next week I'll have a new unit to work on - I can't wait to show you some new blocks and variations!
